***** My Vision of South Wales *****

South Wales (SW) is situated like a jewel at the top of Culpeper County. We have easy access to the shopping, restaurants, hospitals and other benefits of Northern Virginia, while enjoying the Rural Atmosphere of Culpeper County.

There are 361 beautiful homes in South Wales situated on One Acre Lots with Side Loading Garages and other features designed for Road Appeal.

Our cul-de-sacs are great for routine walking exercise, but we also have several Nature Trails for those who desire a closer connection with nature. We also maintain an Outdoor Basketball Court for more vigorous exercise.

Our Home Owners Association Fees are reasonable because we do not have to budget for Road Maintenance, including Snow Removal, or the cost of maintaining a community Golf Course, Swimming Pool or Clubhouse.

However, there is a Public Golf Course across the street and a fancy Public Swimming Pool within eight miles. Spilman, a County Park, is around the corner with a Playground for Children, Picnic Facilities and an 18 hole Disc Golf Course.

Most of our younger students attend the highly regarded Culpeper County Public School System, but there are also several privately funded schools nearby.

College Aged Students have several great choices nearby, including James Madison University, the University of Virginia and George Mason University.

Many of our young adults work in Warrenton or Culpeper. However, quite a few of our residents commute to Northern Virginia and Washington D.C., because they want to work where the “action” is while giving their family the benefit of living in a beautiful safe rural community.

Our Senior Citizens remain active by walking our cul-de-sacs, walking their favorite Nature tail, participating in Social Clubs and enticing their Grandchildren to visit them at their SW “Country Estate”. I have even seen a few of our Senior Citizens on the Basketball Court.

The nearby Little Fork Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad are ready, willing and able to take care of everyone in South Wales; what a great asset. We also have an active Neighborhood Watch Program to patrol South Wales and report suspicious activities.

Culpeper County maintains our modern Water Treatment Facility and the associated South Wales Fire Hydrant System. The Water Tower and Waste Water Treatment Facility are nicely hidden away in the woods on the East side of Route 229.

There are numerous historical sites nearby, in Culpeper County and adjacent counties: Fauquier to the North and East, Madison to the South and Rappahannock to the West. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a short drive through Rappahannock County.

Culpeper County is known for its equestrian, agriculture and historical events, but there is also a small airport in Culpeper which is home base for numerous privately owned vintage aircraft. Several of our South Wales residents volunteer to maintain these historical treasures.

Many of us enjoy the easy drive South to Jefferson’s Home Town of Charlottesville for shopping, dining, entertainment and the UVA Medical Center; others prefer Northern Virginia for their shopping, dining, entertainment and medical care. We have the best of both worlds.

South Wales is country living at its best, with the convenience of nearby hospitals, shopping and
entertainment. It is a place for all seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter); it is a community for all ages (Youngsters, Parents, Grandparents and Great Grandparents).

Tell your friends about South Wales and encourage them to visit.
